Ethernet – what is it?
Ethernet is fast becoming the standard interface and protocol used in local and wide area data networks (LAN & WAN), replacing more traditional leased lines, WES and WEES circuits. Ethernet provides a dedicated high speed, uncontended symmetrical bandwidth solution for Internet or site to site access. Using either fibre or copper, Ethernet provides flexible bandwidth with 2Mb, 10Mb, 100Mb and 1Gb bearer circuit options.
Ethernet provides a cost effective high speed data interface with complete UK wide coverage, using lower cost customer premises data equipment instead of more expensive X21 interfaces used on traditional leased lines.
Point to Point High Speed Data Networking Solutions
Ethernet is rapidly becoming the standard protocol used in Wide Area Networking (WAN) and provides an efficient and effective way of connecting sites using existing Ethernet based data equipment. Ethernet can be deployed as a dedicated site to site circuit or as part of a larger data networking solution using Spitfire’s state of the art MPLS network – click here for more information.
