Spitfire were founded in 1988 in Battersea and we have remained within a mile of our original location, our new head office is at The Printworks, 139 Clapham Road, London SW9 0HP, and we have a second office in the Redditch, West Midlands.

Who are Spitfire?

Spitfire have been providing a wide range of Telecom and Internet services to businesses for over 25 years. We are an owner managed business who are profitable with no debt and offices in London and the West Midlands. We are a stable, independent supplier with unrivalled experience in providing telecoms services to SMEs on a long term basis, with a customer service led ethos.

Spitfire have grown organically by providing good service at good prices to our customers for the last 26 years. We have grown from a start-up through to a business with over £20m turnover and over 100 staff, and understand the challenges of growing a business organically and looking after customers through both recessions and are an SME ourselves with Turnover of £20m+ and 100 staff.

Unlike many of our rivals we have built our business customer by customer, developing long term relationships based on good service, advice and pricing. We continue to grow organically by looking after our existing customers and adding new ones by a combination of referrals and marketing. We aim for all our customers to be on current pricing once out of their initial contract – our philosophy is that customers will remain with us if we deliver good service at a good price on a continuing basis.

Having been in business for over 25 years we have significantly more experience than most of our competitors. Spitfire were one of the first providers of business broadband in the UK (we were one of the first 15 broadband suppliers listed on the first BT sponsored advert in the FT launching Broadband in the UK) back in September 2000. As one of the earliest Internet Service Providers still operating in the UK, our experience allows us to deliver one of the widest range of business internet connections available from anyone today, combined with an innovative range of back up and resilient services. We are an early adopter of services that can assist our customers, whether SDSL in 2002 or becoming a market leader in the supply of high speed business Ethernet connections since 2008. We are now one of BT Wholesale’s top 3 providers of Ethernet.

We were also one of the first Telecomms companies to be involved in Wholesale Line Rental when it was launched as a trial by BT Wholesale in 2001, since then we have been involved with every stage of the product growth and development.

Spitfire are one of only 30 Interconnected Operators in the UK, with our own telephone exchange and multiple Interconnects with the BT Network, having our own infrastructure gives us control over the products and services we provide, allowing us to develop innovative and good value services.

Other notable landmarks include being a pioneer of Business VoIP, SIP Trunking and Hosted Telephony in 2006. As an Interconnected Operator and Internet Service Provider we are ideally placed to deliver SIP and Voice over IP services to customers. Unlike most competitors we control the service from end to end and are not reliant on third parties, allowing us to deliver a standard of service we feel happy to put our name to.

Our Joint Managing Director is Chairman of the FCS (Federation of Communication Service Providers), which is the leading industry trade organisation; and is also a founder Director of the NICC an OFCOM industry body, Spitfire were one of the four original founders of the NICC alongside BT, Orange and Cable & Wireless.
