Business SIP explained

- why use Spitfire

Spitfire are a leading business Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP), as well as being a business telecomms operator and Internet Service Provider.

One of the main issues with business VoIP in all forms is that clients are often relying on a number of different service providers to provide a call – this is much like sending an email, where the email may travel over many different networks to reach its destination. The problem with putting a telephone call over different networks is you get delays, jitter and packet loss – all of which leads to sub standard call quality.

Spitfire are one of the only ITSPs able to offer a complete end-to-end service, via our own networks that covers all aspects of VoIP. The result is a service that actually works and delivers business quality VoIP.

Business VoIP & SIP

Spitfire are the only business ISP who are also an ITSP and an Interconnected operator. As well as offering SIP Trunks we have a leading hosted solution – Spitfire SIP Communicator™.

SIP Trunks have a monthly rental charge and usually have cheaper call charges than standard telephone calls. SIP Trunks connect to your telephone system in a similar way to normal ISDN30e lines, it is essential that the SIP Provider you use has tested their lines with the relevant system you use or are planning to use.

As an alternative to using SIP Trunks connected to a telephone system, many clients are moving towards using a hosted telephone service. Spitfire offer a market leading hosted service – SIP Communicator™.

SIP Communicator™ is hosted at Spitfire's secure data facility in Harbour Exchange Square in London Docklands. Clients rent a virtual telephone system at a cost of £10.00 per month per extension. The key benefits to clients are low set up costs; the ability for extensions to be at different sites but act as one single system; and extremely flexible and easy management. As clients pay a rental per month they can grow (and reduce) the number of extensions at short notice. The system has a fantastic range of VoIP features driving improved communication and productivity.

SIP Communicator™ links to Spitfire’s SIP Trunking service to provide access to the outside world – the cost of SIP Trunk access is included within the SIP Communicator™ rental cost.
