Spitfire QoS Options

Which is the right solution for you?

Quality of Service (QoS) represents a variety of mechanisms that can be applied to a network to ensure that network traffic is delivered to its destination without being impeded by other traffic. This is especially important if you intend to use the same circuit for both voice and business data.

Spitfire provides managed routers for Ethernet circuits, each configured to the individual needs of the customer’s LAN. When ordering a Spitfire Ethernet circuit you will be required to choose one of the following router configuration options below.

Separate switches for Voice and Data LANs. Each switch is independently connected to the Spitfire Router.

A single switch (or multiple switches) are used for both Voice and Data traffic. Voice and Data utilise different VLANs. Each PC or VoIP handset is connected to its own port on eth switch. The switch is connected to the Spitfire Router via a single Ethernet connection configured for 802.1q trunks.

The switch is connected to the Spitfire Router via a single Ethernet connection configured for 802.1q trunks.

A single switch (or multiple switches) are used for both Voice and Data traffic. Voice and Data utilise different VLANs. PCs are connected to the VoIP handset which in turn connects to the switch. The switch is connected to the Spitfire Router via a single Ethernet connection configured for 802.1q trunks. A Firewall is also connected to the switch in a “Firewall on a stick” configuration.
