HOW DOES HOSTED TELEPHONY WORK? ...

 

In order to make or receive a call, your handset or softphone on site needs to connect to the caller via the public telephone network.  Spitfire has a unique place in the market as we offer a fully managed end-to-end solution to support the full journey of a call.

Your FireSwitch phone system is located in one of Spitfire’s secure data node facilities. From here it connects to the Spitfire SIP network; a network isolated from the public internet and purely dedicated to SIP voice traffic, with a direct interconnect to the public telephone network.

Your office users connect to FireSwitch using a Spitfire voice approved data connection to assure business voice quality and provide a completely secure connected environment.  The call will be delivered to the handset or softphone to complete the route from the public telephone network to your users.

Any remote users or branch offices may also connect to the hosted phone system using existing Internet connections, however please discuss these with us so that we can advise on how to assure call quality.

Mobile softphones are as simple to set up as scanning a QR code, while handsets are pre-configured by our engineers and are set up on a ‘plug-and-play’ basis to make self-installation extremely straight forward. 

Each user will have an extension on the system, with everything managed centrally on Spitfire’s network, regardless of their location. This makes adding user extensions simple and keeps lead times short, with handsets sent out ready to plug in and use immediately.

FIRESWITCH FLEX …

At Spitfire we understand that businesses sometimes need to grow or contract. FireSwitch Flex allows you to increase or reduce the number of FireSwitch extensions in line with your needs. Adding extensions is simple, simply add whenever you need, pay the additional extension rental and your contract is unaffected. 

Flex also allows you to save money by reducing the number of extensions even within your contract minimum term by up to 20% of the original number of contracted extensions. If you have chosen to rent FireSwitch handsets for these extensions these can also be returned to save even more money. All you have to do is give Spitfire one month’s notice and return any handsets.

FireSwitch Flex is available to all customers paying the standard price of £10 per extension or £9 where no softphone is provided. Rental reduction is applied in the month after the notice period and for handset rental when the handset is received by Spitfire in acceptable condition. Part month service credits will not be applied.

The Big Switch Off

The 5th September 2023 has been announced as the national ‘stop sell’ date – the point at which Openreach will no longer provide new or modify existing analogue and ISDN lines or allow transfers of existing services between service providers.

The switch off project completes at the end of 2025 and from this date it’s all-IP or nothing.
