Act now to make smooth switch to all-IP, says Spitfire

Spitfire Network Services (Spitfire) is introducing its PSTN Switch Off Migration service that offers a choice of technologies to ensure a smooth, flexible transition to all-IP for businesses, while also providing technical support and expertise.

With Openreach recently announcing that it will be increasing its prices for all legacy analogue WLR/ISDN products to service providers by 100% by October 2026, Spitfire has created a package which makes transition flexible and upgradeable.

Openreach and BT have also announced plans to withdraw all copper-based analogue, ISDN and broadband services, with completion postponed until 31st January 2027.

With the deadline being extended, the switch to all-IP has fallen down the priority list of many UK businesses and means that making the switch late could result in companies offered unfavourable upgrade pricing terms with longer times to fix problems.

Spitfire says that its Switch Off Migration Service includes offering a choice of technologies to ensure every customer has a suitable service for the future for both connectivity and telephony and seamlessly migrates to the new services.

The new continuity migration service includes no migration charge from legacy analogue line, ISDN or broadband circuits; a choice of minimum contract periods from three months; a digital voice line with call bundle included; and an upgrade to super-fast fibre on availability within minimum term.

Harry Bowlby, Managing Director at Spitfire (pictured) said: “Although this revised date buys more time and indeed may now seem some way off, the huge task to move to an all-IP future proofed service remains. Customers should still aim to act now, as the announcement only provides a one-year extension and we are still likely to experience resource bottlenecks as the months go by.

“Our message is clear: move now, avoid the rush and protect your business communications – ultimately this is about future-proofing your business – so why wait?” he concluded.
